VDC
Village Development Committee is a local group responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and monitoring of development initiatives within a village.
In every village, we establish Village Development Committees (VDC), where we select members on vote, to represent the village to discuss priorities and development plans. These committees serve as a key point of contact for AIRD, helping us to implement action plans and support initiatives based on local needs. This ensures villagers understand what the next planned actions by their community are, either it is conducted independently or with external assistance.
Our goal
We are comitted to support the rural areas of South India, which are often overlooked and left behind, unable to benefit from the country's economic boom. These villagers face limited opportunities for economic growth and improvements in their quality of life. Our mission is to help these communities thrive by ensuring they can live healthier, happier lives while fostering a strong connection with their environment.
The AIRD operates in 24 villages, all located in the Kanyakumari district: Pappankulam, Parameswhrapuram, Irukkandurai, Nakkaneri, Koliyankulam, Ooralvaimozhi, Sanganapuram, Periyakulam, Chenarkulam, Panchal, Athankaraipallivasal, Ulagaratchagupuram, Perunganankulam, Vadacheri, Kailasaperi, Kuattapuzhi, Srirenganarayanapuram, Pudumanai, Kudankulam, Idinthakarai, Vijayapathy, Kumbalampadu, A.Thirumalapuram, and Radhapuram.
Regular Meetings and Active Engagement
To maintain strong communication and ensure the success of our initiatives, we conduct regular meetings with the VDCs. These meetings serve as platforms for discussing progress, identifying new challenges, and refining our strategies based on real-time feedback from the community. By fostering open dialogue, we empower the villagers to take ownership of their development journey, which leads to more effective and sustainable solutions.
The frequency of these meetings underscores our commitment to staying actively involved with each community. These gatherings are not only about tracking project outcomes but also about reinforcing partnerships, discussing long-term goals, and promoting transparency. Through this consistent engagement, we ensure that development remains a collaborative effort, with the community at the heart of decision-making.
